Romans 12:1-2

SUMMARY: Paul now introduces the last major section of this great treatise on our faith. It is our response to what God has done for us. Because of God’s mercy, we should respond by living a life of sanctified and sacrificial worship. The remainder of this section explains how we are to do that.
  I.  The Reason VERSE 12:1
A.  The Plea: Therefore I urge you, brethren, (1a)
B.  The Basis: by the mercies of God, (1b)
 
 II.  The Commands VERSES 12:1-2
A.  Sacrifice:
1.  The Command: to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, (1c)
2.  The Explanation: which is your spiritual service of worship. (1d)
B.  Sanctification:
1.  The Command:
a.  The Negative: And do not be conformed to this world, (2a)
b.  The Positive:
(1)  The Action: but be transformed (2b)
(2)  The Means: by the renewing of your mind, (2c)
2.  The Purpose: so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (2d)
